Stress

We are not able to change a lot that is around us, but we are able to change how we breathe, our thoughts and how we respond to stress.

Stress will always be a part of our lives in some form. It is not always bad and is a key to our survival. Not addressing stress, which then becomes chronic is what causes problems. Unfortunately, chronic stress has culturally become part of our comfort zone. The way we respond to it, makes the biggest difference in how we feel.

When you find yourself being in a stressful situation, if it’s life threatening, your body will know to go into fight or flight mode and you will do what is best at that time. If it isn’t life threatening, first pause and Breathe! Then check in with yourself to see what you are thinking and if there is something you can do that will help you feel better at that moment. Make the decision to do what your body is telling you is true. Some things that I love to do are meditating, breath work, listening to music, going for a walk and journaling.

Do what feels good to you and incorporate it into your daily life (even if it’s only 5 minutes) and notice how things shift. You have a choice, don’t let stress control you.
