What’s Guiding You?

When it comes to the choices we make —
We’re often either running away from pain… or moving toward pleasure.

And here’s the thing, not often talked about:

Even when we’re running toward pleasure, it may still be a way to avoid pain.

We chase the next goal, the next great escape, the next high, the next breakthrough…
Not because we’re fully embodied in joy —
But because sitting with the discomfort feels unbearable.

It’s subtle, but powerful.
Pleasure becomes another form of escape.

This isn’t wrong. It’s very wise to notice when it happens.

When we bring awareness and compassion to the parts of us that are running —
We can stop reacting and start responding.

From presence. From choice. From truth.

Have you ever paused to ask yourself —
Am I running away from pain… or moving toward what brings me joy?

So often, our decisions — even the small ones — are shaped by this deeper truth of running away from pain.

Pain avoidance can look like staying busy, over indulging, bypassing your feelings, people-pleasing, overachieving or numbing out.

It’s not about forcing change.
It’s about becoming aware of what’s running the show — and learning to trust what your body already knows is true.

In the work I do with my coaching clients, we explore the patterns that keep them stuck in cycles of self-protection, and gently begin the shift toward self-connection and choice.

Helping them slow down, listen to the signals of their body,
and untangle those survival patterns.

So they can make aligned decisions and take action — not from fear, but from presence and their deepest knowing.

If you’re ready to explore this more deeply, I’d love to support you. Schedule your Expansion Session today.
